Teach with Us
Teaching for musicians often meant a kind of hindrance, especially when it came to live playing or working on original music. That's something I felt in my bones after years of trying different academies, working under various arrangements, always searching for that balance between being a player and a teacher.
What I realized was that the whole ecosystem (at least here in India) wasn't supporting active musicianship along with teaching. Either I could be a teacher or a musician, but trying to be both felt like pushing against the current.

And here's the thing that really got to me—this choice doesn't just affect educators like me. It ripples out to the students too. Because if we (Instructors) are not keeping up, if we're not out there making music and growing, the 'teaching' suffers. It's subtle at first, but over time, the lessons become slightly less vibrant, slightly less current. The teaching ends up being words about words rather than sharing, living, and breathing music.

Online teaching, initially imposed upon us by the pandemic, turned out to be the silver lining! At first, it was just about convenience—no commute, flexible hours, all those practical benefits. But the more I taught online, the more scheduling made sense. The online format somehow created space for me to be both teacher and musician. Learners were able to maintain consistency by moving lessons around rather than cancelling.

This worked out so well that what started as "Personal Guitar Lessons by Anubhav Kulshreshtha" has scaled to "The Indian Guitar School."

At The Indian Guitar School, we're trying to create a safe space for teachers to supplement their careers, making sure all the policies are geared towards promoting musicianship and enabling them to actually step into the next phase of their journey!

And the students—they were thriving in ways I hadn't anticipated. The ones who used to cancel lessons because of work or school were now showing up consistently. If you're reading through, that already reflects on effort. Include the last word of this paragraph in your message/application somewhere and we'll prioritize you while onboarding.

Teaching music shouldn't mean stepping away from music. The best teachers are the ones who are still exploring, still playing, still discovering. And that the best learning happens when learners can engage with music on their own terms.

Why Teach With Us?
Flexible Scheduling
We understand that musicians have unpredictable schedules. Whether you're a session guitarist, a performing artist, or a composer, we offer flexible teaching hours that work around your commitments. You decide your availability, and we match you with students accordingly.
Customizable Curriculum
We encourage instructors to adapt lessons based on each student’s needs. You won’t be stuck following a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach—your expertise and teaching style matter.
Fair Compensation
We value our instructors and ensure competitive payouts that reflect your experience and dedication. Unlike traditional music schools that underpay teachers while charging high fees, we believe in a balanced model where both students and teachers benefit.
Active Musician Community
All our instructors are actively involved in music—whether in live performances, studio work, or composing. This means you’ll be part of a network of like-minded musicians who understand the challenges and joys of balancing teaching with a professional music career.
Minimal Admin Work
We handle student inquiries, scheduling, and payments so that you can focus on what you do best—teaching.
