The Indian Guitar School
School Guidelines
Effective Date: September 23, 2024
Last Updated: March 2026
To ensure every student gets the best possible experience, we have compiled a set of essential guidelines. These policies are not merely rules — they form a framework that helps us maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive learning environment for both students and instructors.
A Note from Us
The best learning outcomes emerge from a synergistic relationship between students and instructors, built on commitment, consistency, and mutual respect. These guidelines act as safety nets that ensure an optimal learning experience and a win-win outcome for all. Every policy is designed with student progress, instructor efficiency, and a balanced learning environment in mind.
Though everyone learns differently, we have observed one constant: momentum matters. This does not mean piling on more classes — it means staying engaged with the guitar, immersed in music, and maintaining a steady rhythm of learning, even if you meet your instructor only 3–4 times a month. Our goal is to cultivate that connection — one that lasts far beyond the lessons themselves.
By enrolling in our programs, you agree to abide by these guidelines and our Terms & Conditions.
Attendance & Punctuality
Students must join their sessions on time. If a student does not join within 10 minutes of the scheduled session time and has not informed the instructor, the session will be marked as completed and the instructor may log out.
Frequent Absences:
-
Missing three consecutive classes without prior notice will result in removal from the student roster.
-
Failing to communicate with the school or instructor for 14 consecutive days will also result in removal from the roster.
-
If a student wishes to resume after removal, they may re-enroll subject to a reactivation fee of ₹1,200, payable in addition to the standard enrollment fee.
Practice & Lesson Progression
For one-on-one lessons, if a student has not sufficiently practiced assigned material and is unprepared to move forward, the instructor may end the session early rather than engage in small talk.
Periodic assessments on technical skills and performance may be conducted. If a student consistently fails to meet minimum progress expectations, they may be placed on hold until required assignments are submitted.
Fees & Refund Policy
All fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable, except in cases where the school cancels or is unable to deliver a session (see below).
A free demo session is offered before enrollment to help students evaluate the teaching methodology and make an informed decision.
Payment & Enrollment:
-
Each enrollment package covers a defined number of sessions as specified at the time of purchase.
-
Prices are listed in both USD and INR. Indian students are billed in INR inclusive of applicable GST. International/NRI students are billed at the same listed price; their invoices reflect zero-rated export supply with no GST charged.
-
Payment is required before the commencement of any lesson unless otherwise agreed in writing.
-
Enrollment is non-transferable. Sessions cannot be transferred to another individual.
-
Delayed renewal may result in reassignment to a different instructor based on availability.
-
Students will be notified in advance when their enrollment package is nearing expiration. Payment renewal is the student's responsibility.
Refunds:
-
Fees are non-refundable once enrollment has commenced.
-
In the event the school cancels a session and is unable to provide a makeup session within a reasonable timeframe, a pro-rata refund for that session may be issued at the school's discretion.
-
No refunds are issued for sessions missed by the student, regardless of reason.
Rescheduling & Cancellations
Students may reschedule up to one-fourth (25%) of the sessions in their enrolled package. Further rescheduling beyond this limit is at the instructor's discretion.
-
Rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
-
Requests made with less than 24 hours' notice may be granted at the instructor's discretion but are not guaranteed.
-
Sessions missed without prior notice will be marked as completed and deducted from the package.
-
If a session is canceled due to the instructor's unavailability, a makeup session will be added to the student's balance. No session is lost due to instructor-side cancellations.
Instructor Assignments & Changes
A student may be assigned a different instructor if their learning requirements evolve or if their current instructor is unavailable. The school reserves the right to reassign instructors based on scheduling, availability, or pedagogical considerations. Students will be informed of any such changes in advance where possible.
Session Recording Policy
-
Students may request to record their session for personal use only, with the instructor's consent.
-
These recordings must not be shared or used for any purpose beyond personal review without permission.
Code of Conduct
Students are expected to maintain respectful and professional behavior at all times toward instructors and school administration. Any rude, offensive, abusive, or inappropriate conduct will result in immediate termination of enrollment without a refund.
Students should maintain a positive learning attitude and follow their instructor's guidance in good faith.
Technical Issues & Support
-
If a student experiences technical difficulties (e.g., internet issues, device malfunctions), they must inform the instructor immediately.
-
If the issue persists beyond 10 minutes, the session may be rescheduled at the instructor's discretion.
-
If the instructor faces technical issues that prevent the session from being conducted, a makeup session will be added to the student's balance at no additional cost.
Course Termination & Disciplinary Actions
The school reserves the right to terminate a student's enrollment if they:
-
Have irregular attendance or frequent extended absences without valid justification.
-
Consistently fail to show progress, disregard instructor guidance, or exhibit a lack of discipline.
-
Violate the Code of Conduct or any other provision of these guidelines.
In all matters related to student conduct, attendance, or lesson continuation, the school's decision is final.
General Guidelines for Optimal Learning
-
Students are highly recommended to attend classes on a larger screen (laptop, tablet, or monitor) for an optimal learning experience. Avoid using phone screens whenever possible.
-
A functional guitar and a stable internet connection are necessary for an uninterrupted learning experience.
-
Lessons are conducted online only and must be attended in a quiet, distraction-free environment.
-
Students should regularly check their emails or WhatsApp (whichever communication method is used) for class updates.
